contemporary cottage garden

This garden surrounds a newly built, contemporary, thatched house in East Dorset. It is approximately 20 x 30m.

The open plan kitchen/lounge on the first floor leads out onto a glass balcony facing east to benefit from the morning sun and the fabulous view across the Purbeck hills. This meant that the garden will be viewed from above as well as at ground level.

The clients wanted a garden that would be easy to maintain and resilient as they intend to let the property on a short term basis.

Requirements for the new design/landscape architecture:

  • No lawn

  • Chippings to complement the existing grey block paving drive

  • Retain the existing apple tree

  • Formal planting in muted colours to complement the grey hard landscaping

  • Grasses and shrubs

This garden has been constructed by Gregorys Landscaping of Piddlehinton, and the plants have been sourced from Chichester Trees and Shrubs.

SUPERB FROM START TO FINISH:

Ann was superb from start to finish. From our initial meeting, giving her our brief, through to the design, plant selection and liaising with the landscape gardener and plant supplier. She is extremely professional and has an extensive knowledge of the different types of plants available for different soils and sun/shade conditions. We highly recommend her."
